Many parents, grandparents and neighbors came to support the riders. Several awesome volunteers made the day especially fun and successful—Judge KarelWaugh, Announcer Connie Goddard, Registration Susie Underwood, Lead Ribbon Girl Casey Parker, Ring Steward Olga Lohr along with spectators who pitched in by helping with gate duty, registration, giving out ribbons and moving obstacles. Nick Contreras raked the arena after the water truck and Mel and Mick Dudas ran the food concession. Mel did a fantastic job of coordinating the event and all went very smoothly.

August Horse Show

Reported by Dori Contreras

Horse trailers began rolling into the SRHA arena about9:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 25 for the final summer schooling show of the season. The day’s schedule featured both traditional horse show classes and games onhorseback. The first part of the show included Showmanship, Trail, Western Pleasure, Western equitation, English Equitation and English Pleasure. After lunch there was Hunter Hack and then the games began. Riders competed in Pole Bending, Musical Boxes, the Watermelon Race and the ever popular Dollar Bill Marathon. For several riders, it was their first show and for at least a couple, it was their first show in quite awhile. Cate Kobel and Ronie Whittall made their horse show debuts. Rebecca Smith and Cindy made a surprise appearance and for mom and daughter, Kimiko and Kimiko, this was their first SRHA event.

In the stands, new members the Kobel Family, Laura and Frank Parker and JR Call were seen watching the action.
